0.2 Collaborative Design Documents

We prepare the following custom Google docs for the collaborative development of your Moodle course site.

Syllabus

The course syllabus includes vital information for your students such as the course philsophy, required materials and technologies, course outcomes, course schedule, grading structure, and University policies. This document will be found in the Essential Information section of your Moodle course site. Once your course is live, we discourage making edits to your syllabus.

Meet Your Instructor

This document provides your short biography and preferred contact information to your students. This document will be found in the Essential Information of your Moodle course site.

Module Overview

A module overview serves as a agenda for each module/week in the course. It details readings, learning activities, module-specific outcomes, and deliverables for your students. This document will be found in the Essential Information section of your Moodle course site. Overviews are a standard document in every module of your Moodle course site.

Study Notes

Study Notes can either serve as supplemental content or as directions to tie the learning activities for the module together. Study Notes are a standard document in every module of your Moodle course site.

Milestones

The Milestones document defines the scope of the work to be done on your course site whether you work with us on a new course site, revision, redesign, or companion site. It also serves as a contract between OES/ODL and the instructor. You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site.

Chapters to Modules

The Chapters to Modules document will help you map your course texts to the individual modules of your course. You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site.

Modules to Outcomes

The Modules to Outcomes document will help you map your specific module outcomes to each individual module unit of your course. You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site.

Meeting Minutes

Meeting minutes serve as an archive of discussions and decisions made with your designer as you build your course site. These are not viewable to students.  You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site.

Learning Resources Document

This document collates all of your resources -- whether text, website, UMN licensed resource, or publisher-specific content -- into a single file. UMN Libraries uses this document to build a digital coursepack for your course. You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site.

Teaching Guide

This document serves as the institutional memory of your course. It is a place where you can place reminders or instructions to yourself to carry from semester to semester, and is particularly useful if a course changes instructor hands on a regular basis. You can find this document on the Course Development page in the Instructor Help block of your Moodle site. Contact OES Course Assistance if you have noted a syllabus or course site change request in your Teaching Guide.
